At some point, near the end of it's in production, the drawing is placed on my sitting room wall where I can casually observe how it operates as an object in its own right, free from the studio. After various slight adjustments it is ready for display, among the other faces in the main work. The collection of heads at the end of this focused process will be an intense experience for the viewer. An assortment of figures recycled from the disposable and the ever changing media landscape confront and outnumber the spectator with their gaze and massed presence.
During last year I was asked by a tutor from the college where I studied my M.A. in Drawing, at Wimbledon College of Art, to take this way of working and produce a portrait of him for his wife’s birthday, which coincided with another portrait I was commissioned to produce for a friend of the family. On the completion of these two pieces of work I began thinking about the possibility of taking my skills a stage further by offering this method of making art to a wider audience.
And so it gives me pleasure to present my skills in portraiture to the largest possible community. If you would like to own a portrait drawn by me then all that is needed from you is the choice of image, perhaps a relative or friend, a film or pop star you’ve admired all these years. Would you like something more original than a poster or standard framed photo? You choose the image, mail it to my email account and I take it from there. It’s that easy. At the end of my work you’ll be left with a drawing completely unique to you or that special someone.
Each piece of work can be completed framed or unframed depending on your requirements and budget. Drawings start at a typical studio portrait size, ready for prime position on the mantle piece or wall. Bigger commissioned work is available at your request. Larger portraits will cost more and take longer than the standard dimensions of an A5-A4 sheet of paper. All work is produced on the finest quality Italian drawing paper. A standard scale hand made piece starts at £100.00 excluding framing costs.
